About
Good Samaritan Ministries
The story of Good Samaritan Ministries starts over forty years ago in 1976. Then school teacher, Bettie Mitchell traveled on a biblical archeology tour to the ancient sites near present day Iraq. While she was on the ancient wall of Nineveh, she heard the voice of the Lord call her to quit her job and spend the rest of her life teaching nothing but the Kingdom of God.
This call of God lead to a counseling ministry that started in Bettie’s home in Beaverton, OR where people from all walks of life and every need could come and find love, acceptance and an encounter with the Kingdom of God. Through the years, GSM developed into a ministry of worldwide healing, offering 1-1 counseling, therapy groups and classes, and Certified Counselor Training to thousands of individuals & couples locally, throughout 26 countries and 200 centers around the world. GSM has opened and supports 39 schools, in 11 countries, educating over 3000 students annually. Though GSM sponsorship, many of these students have gone on to universities.
Counselors, and teachers provide their services based upon a foundation of unconditional love and acceptance. We encourage those who come to counseling, groups, and trainings to consider donating to the ministry but we will never turn anyone away based on an inability to donate.
Our Team

Adrian brings a rich history with GSM to his role with the Board. He first began attending Bettie Mitchell's Men's Group almost 30 years ago, freshly out of college. Through the group he became deeply connected to our work in Uganda, and our local recovery work. He is an Oregon realtor and is excited to pour back into GSM once again.

As one of the few seemingly Native Oregonians, I grew up in the Portland area attending Wilsonville grade schools and West Linn High School. I accepted the Lord into my heart in 4th grade (10 years old) at Beaverton Foursquare Church. I still feel incredibly fortunate to have sat through sermons by the late Ron Mehl, as I could feel God’s love coming from his humble servant heart every time he talked...

I worked in the financial services industry in California for 8 years early in my career. Upon moving to Oregon in 1989, I joined an engineering and manufacturing company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan (JAE). The North American Operations included a HQ/Engineering Center in Tualatin and a large manufacturing plant in Tijuana, Mexico. I remained with this company for 32 years and retired as a Board Member and Vice President of North American Operations.

Harriet and I became involved in GSM in 2002 when our church helped host the GSM International Conference. We were asked to provide housing for three of the African country directors. Soon after, we joined the GSM Senegal satellite and served as satellite leaders for several years. We continue to participate in the satellite and to support Senegal and GSM. I have had the opportunity to visit Africa on two occasions; those trips opened my eyes and have had a major impact on my life.
